Before buying our van - called “Monsieur Hubert” - I was more than happy to find blogs and Instagram profiles that documented their conversion and provided helpful tips. With this page, I hope to provide some inspiration as well as make your conversion easier!

Webshops

First, let’s share the webshops that I used the most for our conversion

• waerchzueg.ch - they have most of the tools and equipment needed for a conversion

• schlanser.ch & camping-profi.ch - two shops that provide additional equipment and accessories for your van

Costs

A van conversion can cost from CHF 5’000 all the way up to CHF 15’000 or even more depending on your needs and the equipment you install. Our van is closer to the higher limit since we opted for a fully-equipped van (solar system, heater, fresh water in the van). The following two charts show you how our budget was split across the different parts of the conversion and relative to the cost of the van itself.
